The grade bands are K-2, 3-5, 6-8, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and above. This year the theme is Making Math Meaningful: Inquiry Learning through the Process Goals. An Academy is also smaller than a conference and space is limited. So, watch for more information and be ready to join us in Virginia Beach.

VCTM June 2014

Message from the President

The end of this month marks the end of my term as president. It has been an honor to serve this organization and I look forward to serving the organization in different capacities. Cathy Shelton will be assuming the office of president as of July 1. She will provide great leadership and I am excited to see what new things VCTM has in store.

--Ian Shenk

Website Updates

We recently collected survey data to check the pulse of our membership. One of the common themes was to continue working to make the website more user-friendly and easier to navigate. We’ve been gradually making changes to hopefully address these concerns. Check out www.vctm.org and then let us know what you think!

2014 Annual Conference

We just want to send one last thank you to everyone who made our Spring Conference a success. At our last Board meeting, we received a final report. We had 962 attendees and 150 sessions. A very special thanks is extended to LouAnn Lovin, Kyle Schultz and VVCTM.

Beth Williams reported the following election results. All of the following will be serving two year terms. Please congratulate them and thank them for their willingness to serve. If you are interested in running for office in the spring, please contact Ian Shenk.

Elementary Representative - Eric Imbrescia

Because VCTM is one of the hosts for the regional conference (see below), in March we will sponsor an Academy rather than the Spring Conference. The dates are March 6-7, 2015 and the location is Virginia Beach. There will be grade band themes for K-2, 3-5, 6-8, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 and above. Stay tuned for more information but mark it on your calendar now.

VCTM Proposed Constitutional Changes

The Constitution can only be amended by two-thirds of the votes cast.
