Professional Development Manager

 The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is a non-profit association that serves as a public voice of mathematics education, providing vision, leadership, and professional development to support teachers in ensuring mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students.  NCTM is the world’s largest organization dedicated to improving math education and serves over 100,000 members.

 NCTM is currently seeking a Professional Development Manager.

·         This position will oversee the development and implementation of professional development programs
·        
Manage all aspects of the E-Workshop program, assign development, review and edit work of professional development content modules to Professional Development Programs & Services (PDPS) staff and sub-contractors consistent with current PDPS offerings
·        
Assisting the Director of Professional Development Programs & Services with budget management, sub-contract compliance & payments
·        
Assist Marketing staff in carrying out Professional Development program promotional activities
·        
Prepare reports as requested and assist with other programs as directed
·        
Position supervises Professional Development Coordinator

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics education or elementary education with specialization in mathematics or mathematics with post-baccalaureate coursework in education required for teacher certification/licensure. Masters degree preferred. Three plus years experience in professional development or content development in school mathematics education or an equivalent combination of education and experience; classroom mathematics teaching experience. Completion of additional course work in instructional design preferred. Experience with online learning or course management software preferred. Supervisory experience is desirable.

Professional Development Coordinator

If working in a wooded, campus like setting environment in Reston, VA and a 37.5 hour workweek appeals to you, this may be what you’ve been looking for!  National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)  , a non-profit education association, is currently seeking a Professional Development Coordinator.

·          Responsibilities include contributing to the development, implementation and coordination of professional development events, such as E-Workshops, resources, and services.

·          Works with the Director of Professional Development, presenters/workshop leaders, and administrative staff to coordinate the production of event content/materials.

Qualifications:

Electronic Content Coordinator

NCTM is currently seeking an Electronic Content Coordinator to support the development of mathematics content for NCTM’s web sites and electronic products.

Responsibilities:
§ 
Develop new math content
§ 
Select and adapt content for posting on the NCTM web site
§ 
Assist in the development of design specifications for new math applets
§ 
Test and review applets to ensure mathematical content correctness
§ 
Review and recommend content selections for use in CD and other electronic products

Requirements:

§  A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics education or mathematics is required (Master’s degree is desirable)
§ 
A minimum of two years of mathematics teaching experience or curriculum development at the K-12 level, or, at least two years of experience in instructional design and development
§ 
Excellent organizational, problem solving, and written and verbal communication skills

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and understanding of mathematics through second year college level; skills and experience in writing and evaluating mathematics lessons; knowledge and understanding of the Council—including NCTM’s Principles & Standards—and knowledge of NCTM’s web sites; and experience in the design of mathematics applets.

Illuminations Content Coordinator

The National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is a non profit association that serves as a public voice of mathematics education, providing vision, leadership, and professional development to support teachers in ensuring mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students.  Serving over 100,000 members, NCTM is the world’s largest organization dedicated to improving math education. 

We are currently seeking an Illuminations Content Coordinator to contribute to and support the development of mathematics content for NCTM websites and electronic products. Responsibilities include lesson plan development, applet/tool development, and maintaining the text-based areas of the Web site.

Responsibilities:
§ 
Coordinates lesson plan writers to produce lesson plans for the Illuminations Web site, according to Council specifications.
§ 
Actively recruits new lesson plan writers.
§ 
Creates specifications for new, interactive components for the Illuminations Web site, including but not limited to Java applets, Java SketchPad applets, and Flash movies.
§ 
Works with volunteers, authors, programmers, and editors on lesson plan and applet development.
§ 
Identifies areas for improvement to existing lessons and applets and considers ideas for future resources.
§ 
Supports the work of the Online Resources Department.
§ 
Represents NCTM at Annual Meetings, Regional Conferences and other meetings as necessary.

 Requirements:
§ 
Bachelors degree in mathematics education or mathematics required. A Masters degree is desired.
§ 
A minimum of 2 years experience teaching (mathematics) or curriculum development at the K-12 level or at least 2 years of experience in instructional design and development.
§ 
Knowledge and understanding of mathematics through second-year college level.

Demonstrated skill and experience in writing and evaluating mathematics lessons.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Council including NCTM’s Principles and Standards for School Mathematics.

Familiarity with the NCTM and Illuminations Websites.

Excellent organizational, problem solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
§ 
Capacity to effectively coordinate multiple tasks; set and accomplish goals and priorities; and, work cooperatively with a variety of groups. 
§ 
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
§ 
Ability to monitor expenditures within a specified budget.
§ 
Experience in the design of applets desirable.
